Speaking during an Opposition Day debate on Living Standards, Alok Sharma challenges the Opposition on its policy of a temporary cut in VAT.

Alok Sharma (Reading West) (Con): The Labour motion contains a long list, including a lot of things that the Government are already doing. I also note that it does not call for a temporary cut in VAT, which was one of Labour’s flagship policies. I know that Labour is a policy-free zone at the moment, but is that another abandoned policy?

Rachel Reeves: I thank the hon. Gentleman for that intervention.
