Alok Sharma, the Member of Parliament for Reading West, has celebrated Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in his constituency this weekend.
To begin the celebrations, Alok attended the National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral.
Following this, Alok opened the Theale Parish Council Platinum Jubilee fete on Sunday. The Fete had a full range of activities on offer, from cakes, live music and juggling. Alok even had a go at welly whanging.
Later in the afternoon, Alok then attended a community street party in Purley where he got to pick the cake competition winners.
Alok said:
“I very much enjoyed the Platinum Jubilee weekend. Thanks to all those who organised and attended these brilliant community events in Theale and Purley.”
Alok continued:
“And thank you Your Majesty for 70 years of selfless service, you are an example to us all.”
Theale Parish Council said:
“A huge thank you to everyone who came and supported the Jubilee fete - it was absolutely lovely to see the community back together again! We hope you all had a fabulous time! Of course events like this would simply not be possible without the support of volunteers, community groups and local businesses.”
