Alok Sharma, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Reading West has welcomed the withdrawal of Kennet Properties’ application for outline planning permission on the Bath Road Reservoir site.

Alok Sharma and Minster ward Councillor Terry Byrne have been working closely for months with local residents and the Bath Road reservoir campaign group to save the site from development.



Alok commented: “I am delighted by this news as Councillor Terry Byrne and I have been working for months together with local campaigners to stop this development and it is a real win for the Save Bath Road Reservoir campaign group and all local people that this application has been withdrawn. However we know that Kennet Properties will try again next year to push another proposal forward and the battle to save the reservoir site will continue. It really cannot be a case of development at any cost and local residents’ views must be taken into account.”
