Commenting on Blue Living's recently submitted planning application to build 750 homes and commercial space on the Pincents Hill site Alok Sharma, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Reading West, said: "I have consistently, together with local residents, the Save Calcot Action Group and local councillors, opposed any building on this site. The vast majority of local residents do not want this development because they know that an extra 1000-1500 cars will lead to untold misery on already congested roads, huge pressure on already squeezed existing local services and the loss of a valuable green space."

Alok continued: "Together with local residents and the Save Calcot Action Group, who have done a brilliant job in keeping this issue in the public eye over the past year, I will be opposing this application vigorously and I want Blue Living to know that they have a real fight on their hands."
