Alok Sharma, the Member of Parliament for Reading West, will be holding a meeting for residents living in the Birch Copse and Westwood wards, in what will be the fifth of a series of public meetings across the Reading West constituency with Thames Valley Police.

The meeting will take place from 7pm to 8pm on Thursday 30th May 2013 at The Cornwell Centre, Home Croft, off Clements Mead, Tilehurst, RG31 5WJ.

At the meeting the police will update residents on the work they have been doing to combat local crime in Calcot and Birch Copse, including anti-social behaviour, speeding, anti-social driving and theft from motor vehicles.

Joining Alok at the meeting will be the West Berkshire Policing Area Commander, Superintendent Robin Rickard, as well as the local Neighbourhood Sergeant, Michael Adams who, amongst his other responsibilities, covers the Birch Copse and Westwood ward areas in the West Berkshire part of Tilehurst.

Previous meetings have been held for residents in living in the Reading Borough wards of Tilehurst, Battle and Southcote, Norcot and Whitley, which have been well attended and received positive feedback from attendees.

Alok said: “Local Neighbourhood Action Groups do a great job and I would encourage everyone to get involved with their NAG, but this meeting will allow local residents to put their views and concerns directly to the most senior police officers in the area.”

Alok continued: “Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting on 30th May but it would be really helpful if anyone hoping to attend could get in touch via alok.sharma.mp@parliament.uk or 0118 941 3803 so we have a view on numbers for the evening.”

Chief Inspector Lindsey Finch, Deputy Commander for the West Berkshire Police Area said: “Mr Alok Sharma MP has kindly offered us the opportunity to attend a number of local meetings that he is holding within his constituency. A lot of work has been done in the local area over the last year and this is a great opportunity for us to continue to hear from the community about the issues which are of greatest concern to them.”

Lindsey continued: “Superintendent Robin Rickard and Neighbourhood Sergeant Michael Adams will both be present at the meeting and look forward to meeting local residents and discussing their issues.”
