Alok Sharma, the Member of Parliament for Reading West, has announced that Olympia Tools will be providing a guest speaker at the “Boosting Exports, Unlocking Growth” seminar being held on 31st January 2014.

Vahe Der Kureghian, Head of Exports at Olympia Tools will speak to attendees at the seminar about the business’s practical experience of exporting, offering advice on the opportunities available from exporting and what has worked for them in different markets.

Originally established in Los Angeles in 1976, Olympia Tools has been trading in the UK for over 15 years as a manufacturer, importer and distributer of building tools for both professional and DIY users. Reading is home to the company’s UK administrative offices and showrooms.

The UK based-business currently exports to countries including France, Spain, Iceland, Estonia, Norway and New Zealand. It even exports to Germany - a country renowned for engineering excellence and the production of its own high quality, high performance tools.

Speaking of his planned appearance at the seminar, Vahe said: “It’s a real pleasure to be asked to speak at the “Boosting Exports, Unlocking Growth” seminar. I’m looking forward to telling delegates more about some of the many factors that have led to Olympia Tools export success. This includes having the utmost confidence in the quality of your products, understanding the needs of customers in different countries and going the extra mile to build relationships and to deliver added value and expertise.”

Alok Sharma said: “I am very pleased to welcome Olympia Tools to the excellent line up of speakers, which come from a wide variety of different size businesses, in a range of different sectors and they export to a large selection of markets around the world. The seminar will be of interest to both existing exporters looking to grow their business, as well as those that may wish to explore the possibilities of exporting for the first time.

Alok continued: “The event will be an excellent opportunity to network with other local businesses and to learn about the support available to help businesses to export. Places are limited and filling up quickly, so anyone interested in attending should email alok.sharma.mp@parliament.uk for further information.”

The seminar, which will be free to all attendees, will be held on Friday 31st January 2014 between 07.30am – 10.00am at The Conference Centre, 100 Longwater Avenue, Green Park, Reading, RG2 6GP.

The event is being sponsored by Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), a government organisation who can provide expert trade advice and practical support to UK-based companies wishing to grow their business overseas.

In addition to speakers from UKTI and Thames Valley Berkshire LEP, the event will feature first hand case studies from local businesses who successfully export, talking about their practical experience of what works in different markets. There will also be a keynote speech from special guest Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline focusing on the need to expand airport capacity in the South East of England.
