Alok Sharma MP welcomes Twilight Trail to Reading for the first time

Alok Sharma, the Member of Parliament for Reading West, welcomes Twilight Trail to Reading for the first time ever.

Twilight Trail is a festive trail featuring state-of-the-art lighting effects and illuminations which will light up Forbury Gardens and the Abbey Ruins during the Christmas period. The new festival will be set against a backdrop of illuminated trees and will also include interactive displays which will make the Abbey Ruins come alive with sound and light.

There will be a total of 11 low-energy, eco-friendly light installations together with a pop-up bar and other interactive elements.

The Twilight Trail is a ticketed event which is open to the public from Tuesday 8 December and the magical trail is set to run throughout the festive season.

The brand new light trail is bought to the local area by Reading UK, Reading BID and Reading Borough Council.

Alok Sharma said: “During these challenging times, festive celebrations this year are more important than ever. I am delighted that the Twilight Trail will give local Reading residents the opportunity to enjoy Christmas cheer as they wander through Forbury Gardens and the Abbey Ruins and see the fantastic illuminations on display.”

Cllr David Stevens, Mayor of Reading, said: “In a year that has been quite out-of-the-ordinary, Reading is set to see something pretty extra-ordinary this Christmas season. For the first time ever, Reading will have its very own Twilight Trail, a magical festive trail full of sparkles and illuminations, leading us through Reading’s iconic Forbury Gardens and Abbey Ruins.”
