Alok Sharma MP has visited Westwood Farm Community Pre-School to hand over the winnings from the charity bet he placed with Ladbrokes Coral on the Grand National champion Tiger Roll. Alok decided to donate his winnings of £225 to the pre-school to help with funding the restoration of their mud garden, which was recently damaged by a storm. The pre-school is fundraising to fix the garden for their children and will soon be holding a summer fete, to which everyone is invited.
Alok Sharma said: “I have been very lucky to win two years running with the Grand National Charity bet. Last year I donated the winnings to Guide Dogs for the Blind. This year I am absolutely delighted to support Westwood Farm Community Pre-School, who are working hard to raise funds to fix their mud garden. I wish the school and its supporters all the best in getting the garden fixed this year!”
Michelle Churchill, Chair of Westwood Farm Community Preschool added: “Huge thanks to Alok for his support, we are very grateful! We have a summer fayre coming up from 11:00 to 14:00 on the 13th of July on the field at Cotswold Park and welcome all who would like to support the school.”
Philip Cook from Ladbrokes Coral Overdown Road said: “We’re delighted to help out local communities, Ladbrokes Coral does a lot at a national level but for us as a branch, we’re always glad when we get the chance to get involved in the real heart of the community.”
