Alok Sharma, the Member of Parliament for Reading West, joined the Reading Pride festivities on Saturday 31 August.
Reading Pride was formed in 2003 to represent and support the local LGBT+ community. Since the first Festival, attendance has grown year on year. The Reading Pride team is formed of dedicated volunteers and works to promote equality and diversity in relation to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and associated communities.
The parade, which provides an opportunity for groups, organisations and individuals to show their support for both Pride and the ongoing campaign for equality, started at the Broad Street Mall, and made its way through the town centre before arriving at the Reading Pride Festival at Kings Meadow.
Alok Sharma said: “It was great to be on the Reading Pride March on Sunday. It was a beautiful day for a leisurely walk with wonderful friends. I congratulate the organisers for such a brilliant event and I look forward to joining in again next year.”
