Alok Sharma, the Member of Parliament for Reading West, has visited Ranikhet Academy.
Alok was invited to visit Ranikhet Academy by Sir Steve Lancashire, Chief Executive of the REAch2 Academy Trust, which oversees the school. Sir Steve invited Alok to the school following news that they had seen an impressive leap in their Key Stage 2 SATs results this year.
This year, the academy saw 51% of its children achieve the required standard in reading, writing and maths combined, compared to just 24% last year.
During his visit, Alok met with Executive Headteacher Salima Ducker and Head of School Louisa Compton who took Alok on a tour of the school.
Alok Sharma said: “Many congratulations to Ranikhet Academy for increasing the proportion of pupils achieving the required standard in reading, writing and mathematics at Key Stage 2. This is a fantastic achievement and testament to the hard work of Ranikhet’s teachers and pupils.”
Executive Headteacher Salima Ducker said: “REAch2 are committed to our academies providing exceptional opportunities for learning and it is clear that is fast becoming a reality at Ranikhet.”
Head of School Louisa Compton said: “We are proud of the hard work that these results reflect, and we are very grateful to Alok Sharma for taking the time to visit us.”
