Parliament visit

Alok Sharma, the Member of Parliament for Reading West, recently hosted year twelve students from Little Heath School on their visit to Parliament.

The students enjoyed their tour of the Palace of Westminster and learnt of its history before meeting with Alok in the Parliamentary Education Centre. Alok discussed his role as Minister for Housing and Planning and his work in the constituency.

The students had the opportunity to share their views on current affairs and ask Alok questions on a wide variety of subjects. They shared their thoughts on defence spending, international aid, the cost of higher education as well as how social media engaged young people in the General Election.

Alok Sharma said: “It is great to meet the Little Heath students who were very politically engaged and had some insightful questions. Little Heath’s visit to Parliament was a valuable opportunity for me to engage with my younger constituents and listen to issues of importance to them.”

Mr Taylor, Head of Politics at Little Heath School said: “Little Heath’s students greatly enjoyed their visit to Parliament and found it a valuable opportunity to discuss topics of interest with Mr Sharma. We look forward to welcoming Mr Sharma to our school in the near future.”
