Alok Sharma, the Member of Parliament for Reading West, has visited local building services company, Biocraft Ltd, based in Tilehurst and employing 16 people.
Biocraft is an award-winning specialist contractor providing remedial building services for commercial, social housing and domestic clients throughout Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire and Surrey.
During the visit, Alok met with Biocraft Managing Director Martin Fosbrook, who explained that he established the business in 2002 which has grown over the last 16 years. The company is a member of the Property Care Association, Federation of Master Builders, Basement Waterproofing Association, Constructionline and is Trustmark approved. Brian Berry, CEO of the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), was also present at the meeting.
Alok also met with Richard McLean who gave an overview of his 4-year electrical apprenticeship course and Kris Marriott who recently won the prestigious Apprentice Award at the Southern Master Builder Awards. The Apprentice Award recognises an individual who has demonstrated exceptional practical skills and commitment in their chosen trade. Kris is now in the running to the win the national category at the Master Builder Awards ceremony.

Successful local businesses like Biocraft are the lifeblood of our communities and I am delighted that Managing Director Martin Fosbrook is looking confidently to the future growth of his business.”
Martin Fosbrook said: “It was great to meet with our local MP to discuss Biocraft’s training success with Brian Berry from the FMB. Kris completed his specialist apprenticeship with PCA Property Care and Richard his electrical qualifications with Basingstoke College, we are very proud of their achievements and we see apprentices as a key part of our long term business plan.”

Developing home grown talent has to be the way forward.”
