The issue:

Calcot Park Golf Club and Bewley Homes are working towards preparing a joint planning application for the redevelopment of the clubhouse and course to build a new facility and course improvements. These changes will be funded by release of an area of land within the golf course for residential development.

Calcot Park Golf Club and Bewley Homes held a public exhibition in May 2022 to explain their proposals and to gauge local reaction. The proposals can be viewed at the following website: www.calcotparkconsultation.co.uk.

The key elements of their proposals are: Redevelopment of the existing golf clubhouse and development in the region of 66 homes to offer a mix of market and affordable homes.

Achievements in the campaign:

• Alok was contacted by a group of local residents who were concerned about the plans for a residential development on the site. In order for Alok to gauge the current strength of feeling on this issue, in July 2022 he launched a Residents’ Survey to seek the views of local residents about the proposals. The survey was delivered to homes in 11 roads in the Calcot Park Golf Club area, and to date, over 130 responses have been received.
