Alok Sharma, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Reading West, recently launched a Local Health Survey which has been sent to thousands of homes across the Reading West constituency.

Alok commented: “I am proud of the NHS and as a local Reading resident have experienced first hand the hard work, dedication and really great care provided by our local healthcare professionals. One of my roles as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Reading West is to help improve public services in our community and I have therefore launched this survey to hear the views of local people so that together we can help to safeguard local NHS services and make them even better.”

Alok continued: “Talking to local residents there have been concerns expressed that local GP surgeries may face possible closure if the Government goes ahead with the establishment of ‘polyclinics’ and I am also concerned that young people and people moving to the area may be finding it harder to register with dentists and doctors.”

Alok concluded: “I think it is vital that the views of local residents are taken into account by those making decisions about our healthcare and that is why I will be presenting and discussing the results and feedback from this survey with West Berkshire Primary Care Trust.”
