24th June 2012

Alok Sharma, the Member of Parliament for Reading West opened the sixth annual Holybrook Festival on Sunday 24 June and was recruited by Holybrook Parish Council to judge the children’s Jubilee crown making competition.

The Festival was free for local residents and also included craft stalls, a raffle, as well as a competition for the best Victoria Sponge cake, an outdoor photography contest and a floral art competition.

Alok Sharma said: “Despite the weather forecast predicting rain, we had a wonderful afternoon and luckily plenty of good weather. I was delighted to be invited to open the festival and to judge the Jubilee Crown making competition. I was very impressed by the high standard of crown designs and it was very difficult to pick a winner, so congratulations are due to all the children who took part.”
